L2Raid and Big Crits: LIVE on the PTR

Friday, November 18, Big Crits & Learn to Raid will be LIVE on the PTR at 7pm EST!

We've rescheduled the event twice, first due to PTR hard mode testing, and then the second time due to live realm raid scheduling conflicts. Barring any more last-minute hard mode testing, Big Crits will be hanging with Kinaesthesia and Killars. We'll run some dungeons, and then if the LFR is up, we'll pull in some more people from both guilds and go have fun in WoW's PuG playground.

Big Crits & Geek Switch - The return of the Big Critcast (sort of)

Back in the day there was this thing called the Big Critcast. It's hard to keep a healthy real life, a progression raiding spot, and another crazy time-commitment habit like a podcast, and so unfortunately the Big Critcast fell to the wayside.  Fast-forward to summer 2011 and after some lively Twitter exchanges with @Kirwen he joined Big Crits on Sen'jin. When he and @TonyLivingston launched their uber-geek website, Geek Switch, they were going to include a podcast. After talking with Kirwen, aka Dante, we realized we had a great opportunity to connect some geek dots.

Starting this week, every Geek Switch podcast will include a Big Crits update segment. Some weeks might even feature another Big Critter (Furioso dropped in last week to flex his sexy--and quite possibly over-sexed--self) but definitely you'll get the update from yours truly as to what's going on in Big Crits. Support Big Crits through Kickstarter

Since the show first launched, many fans have asked me what they could do to help with the show, and unfortunately for a long time there really wasn't much other than spread the good word and vote up episodes on YouTube. Until today.

Today I opened up a funding project on Kickstarter to help pay the editors, release more episodes, and even start up a few new video series. I have big plans for Big Crits, and if you want to help push the project forward, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Kickstarter is a website where people can get their creative projects funded. I discovered the site last year when I found out about The Raid, and Kevin Michael Johnson used the site to successfully fund his pilot. The site is an all-or-nothing funding model, meaning either I hit my goal and get all of the money, or I don't hit and and get nothing. With the incredible fans that we have, I'm sure we'll get the "all" before the deadline.

100% of this funding will go to the editors to pay for more episodes, and not just episodes for the main show, but for new shows as well. We’re going to do a PvP edition, a news & commentary feature, boss guides, and more.

I wouldn’t call it a complete disaster

Saturday night Big Crits went live on livestream.com. The idea was for Seven of Raid Warning to join us (he plays a resto druid on Sen’Jin) and have the Big Crits core raiding team clear through achievements to get the ICC25 drake for some new members of the guild. There would be drinking, achieving, raiding, and live streaming.

That was the plan.

In reality it was almost a complete disaster. Almost. In short, no Seven from Raid Warning, some no-shows from Big Crits, I nearly missed the raid myself, we got too drunk too fast to realistically complete the achievements, and had a mid-raid g-quit. Thankfully, the phone sex operator voices from some of Big Crits’ female raiders really saved the day.

Raid Warning & Big Crits: Live in ICC

The Raid Warning guys and I have been planning this for some time, and the time is right this weekend! Brian and Seven have always been big supports of my crazy projects -- and I of theirs -- and Big Crits has been no exception. I think we first came up with the idea to do this one night after I was a guest on their podcast, so naturally the idea came out of a good night of drinking.A few months later, and here we are.

This is a bit experimental, and if it goes well, then we'll do a few more live streams in the future. For now, kick back and enjoy the shenanigans. RSVP here

Season 2 production schedule

You’re probably wondering where the next episode of Big Crits is. You were probably expecting it this week and so you’re probably thinking to yourself, “here we go again, Big Crits is behind schedule on production, again.”

You might be thinking these things, but you’d be wrong.

We’re right on schedule. We actually rushed episode 01 out the door as quickly as we could to coincide with Machinima.com’s launch of their new channel, the Realm. I was going to hold off on producing a second season until we got closer to Cataclysm, but I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of Machinima’s network of directors.

Since I’m so happy to be on schedule this season, why not publish that schedule? Here it is:

We have some really fun stuff planned for Season 2, and some big things in the works for Cataclysm. More Big Crits! More episodes! More access! More exclamation points! It’s all very fun and exciting around here, that is, when my guild isn’t plotting to kill me in-game. Actually, even that’s fun.

The podcast will also be starting up again very soon. We have a new team dedicated to the timely production of regular episodes.

Overall, it promises to be a great finish to 2010 for Big Crits! Stay tuned for the regularly scheduled episodes as well as some good stuff.
